Aquitaneve is one of the five regions in North Rhea, known for its varied landscapes and deep history. It’s located between Hesperoma to the south and Ithara to the east, with the Kinsman Isles just across the Frostvik Coast, making trade a regular part of life here. The region includes several key areas: the Verduron Forests, the Frostvik Coast, the Nidavann lowlands, and the Aquitana River system, which gives Aquitaneve its name. It’s a region with a lot to offer, from its northern lowlands to its rugged northeastern cliffs.

The geography of Aquitaneve is easy to understand once you know its boundaries. It starts at the northern lowlands and extends to the Falaise dels Mòrts cliffs in the northeast, a steep increase that marks the edge. The southern border runs along the hills of Estepa Del Cantaro, separating it from Hesperoma. A large valley stretches through most of the region, connecting its different areas. Two watersheds drain the land: the Aquitana, which flows into the North Atlan Ocean, and the Vallat dels Saücs, which empties into the Nidavann Sea. The region’s coastlines run along both the North Atlan Ocean and the Nidavann Sea.

The Aquitana River system is the lifeline of Aquitaneve, starting with smaller streams called gaves that flow from springs in the Verduron Forest and Estepa Del Cantaro hills. These streams feed into the main river, which supports the region’s ecosystem and communities. The river’s path shapes the large central valley, a wide area that makes travel and transport easier across the region. It’s a key feature that ties the northern and southern parts of Aquitaneve together, supporting everything from farming to wildlife.

In the southern part of Aquitaneve, along the Aquitana River, you’ll find the region’s most fertile land. This area is home to several human settlements and farmlands, including towns like Baramòt, Jasdilh, Ritmau, Majimòt, Tsinton, Baharit, and Pampat. These settlements were established by the Atlan Empire during the First Era, and they’ve been thriving ever since. The rich soil here supports crops and sustains the local population, making it a hub for agriculture and trade with other regions like the Kinsman Isles.

Aquitaneve’s landscapes are diverse and full of life, with plenty of greenery throughout the region. The Verduron Forests are thick with trees, while other areas, like the Nidavann lowlands, are more open but still lush. The region is home to several animal species, including Kasuku Birds, Skimmer Drakes, and a unique species of Decorus, a large predatory cat. One of the most interesting animals in Aquitaneve is the Oniare’hkwa, a lesser leviathan that lives in the region’s waterways. During breeding season, these creatures migrate to Lunaria Lake, a body of water that connects Aquitaneve to Ithara. The Oniare’hkwa are semi-aquatic reptiles with long necks and sharp teeth, and they use the lake as a safe place to reproduce. Their migration draws attention from locals, who often gather to watch.
